What to do with those ARC’s?? Vrooooom!

Here’s a great organization for you to donate your books or even ARC’s (advance review copies) if you don’t want to pay postage to Poland (see my previous post).  Riders for Readers is a group of motorcycle enthusiasts who vrooooom to elementary and middle schools in the Richmond, VA area, and talk to kids about how cool it is to read — AND give them free books (also, T-shirts, snacks, and a chance to sit on a motorcycle — way cool)!  Started as the brainchild of Velocity Motorcycles owner Eric Engler, Riders for Readers is zooming across the country and may be spreading globally.  Vrooooom!!  What a great way to capture kids’ attention!

If you’d like to donate to Riders for Readers, please contact Eric at Velocity Motorcycles, 3023 W. Marshall St., Richmond, VA 23230, (804) 353-3456, eric (at) velocity vintage.com or hmushman (at) earthlink.net.

Here’s a little more info about Riders for Readers.  Kudos for their great work!

What a great idea! I wonder if they’ve heard of the picture book LIBRARY LIL by Suzanne Williams, illustrated by Steven Kellogg? There’s a motorcycle gang in the story who become converts to books and reading–perfect for Riders for Readers. Thanks for letting us know about this group, Kathy!
